The Vantage workstation is connected to all managed resource's console circuits via proprietary Catwalk connectors, modular cabling and multi-port terminal servers. This connection enables Vantage to "eavesdrop" on the resources' console data stream. The original hardwired console terminal can be used at any time. This is referred to as Console Consolidation.
The use of a Graphical User Interface enables the display of a console window for each resource being managed by Vantage. All connected resources are monitored by Vantage and controlled from a single seat--the Vantage workstation.
Consolidation and management of networked resources is also possible. Vantage supports rlogin and telnet services as well as TCP/IP terminal servers to enable connectivity to networked resources that observe TCP/IP protocol.
