The Vantage Monitor process examines the resource's console character stream watching for user defined events. When an event is detected, Vantage performs the action that was specified during the event's definition. This is referred to as Console Automation. The action taken can be one of eleven currently supported Event Responses:
· Message event - This response displays a message dialog which identifies the resource upon which the event was detected, a date and time stamp, the event string detected and the context in which the string was detected.
· Message with Reply - This response displays a message dialog that is similar to Message except that it also enables the recipient to enter a command to be sent back to the resource that generated the event.
· Voice event - This response plays an audio message on the workstation when the event is detected.
· Command event - This response automatically executes a single command on any Vantage-managed resource or Group of resources, regardless of platform.
· Command with File - This response automatically executes a file (series) of commands on any Vantage-managed resource or Group of resources, regardless of platform.
· Report event - Produces a printed report documenting the occurrence of an event. The report contains the name of the resource that generated the event, event sequence numbers, date and time stamp, the event string and the user-supplied one line message to the recipient.
· Report with File - Prints the same header information as the Report response as well as including a more lengthy file of text in place of the one line message.
· API Exec event - Enables the execution of a user written program or script upon the detection of an event. Also included is the ability to execute certain Vantage functions from a user program.
· E-Mail event - Enables the delivery of a user configured e-mail message upon the detection of an event.
· NED Filter no Logging - Enables filtering of output in the NED window without logging the event's detection.
· NED Filter with Logging - Filters output in the NED window and logs the event's detection to a file on the Vantage Workstation.
