Kernel Updates on Vantage Host

Modification of the Vantage Workstation's kernel may be necessary after a Vantage installation. If a modification is required, a special script must be run after the change for Vantage to work properly.
HP-UX
Vantage uses software driver code from Central Data/Digi Corporation that requires a modification to the kernel. Any change to the workstation that modifies the kernel will remove this driver code on systems running HP-UX versions prior to HP-UX 10.20. The following procedure must be followed if the workstation's kernel is modified: Please Call ASP Technical Support if you have questions about this procedure
1. Perform the update/modification as per the manufacturer's instructions.
2. If appropriate, exit the window system. For the CDE environment this is done by selecting Log Out from the Workspace Menu.
3. Click Options on the login screen.
4. Select Command Line Login from the menu
5. Login as root
6. mount Vantage cdrom
7. execute /drivers/Central_Data/cdupdate from the Vantage cdrom
8. When the program completes, execute a shutdown and power cycle the workstation and all peripherals. The kernel program will honor the changes made by the update and will add the Central Data/Digi drivers back to the kernel.
