Resource Definition Dialog Controls

The Resource Definition Dialog

Before a resource can be monitored by Vantage it must be defined. The figure below is the Resource Definition dialog.

Resource Definition Dialog Controls
Name:
Required. Use this control to assign a name to the resource being configured. Resource names must begin with an alpha character and can be up to 32 characters in length. Click the control and type the resource name.
Model:
Required. The Model control is used to document the model of the resource being configured (i.e., HP3000, RS-6000 etc.). Click the control and type the model.
Manufacturer:
Required. This control is used to document the manufacturer of the resource being configured (i.e., Hewlett-Packard, IBM etc.). Click the control and type the manufacturer.
Operating System:
Required. This control is used to document the operating system of the resource being configured. (i.e., MPEix, Ultrix, etc.). Click the control and type the operating system version.
EOL Char:
Required. This control is used to select the EOL (end of line) character used by the resource's terminal emulator. The EOL Char is either CRLF, LF or FF (carriage return line feed, linefeed or form feed). Click to select a value other than the default.

Initial Event Detection:
Required. This control is used to enable or disable Initial Event Detection. If events should not be initially detected on this resource, select Event Detection Off. Click to select a value other than the default.

Initial Event Response:
Required. This control is used to initially enable or disable the execution of event responses. If event responses should not be executed on this resource select Event Response Off. Click to select a value other than the default.

Initial Command Invocation:
Required. This control is used to initially enable or disable the execution of Command and Command with File event responses on the resource. To prevent command event responses from being executed on the resource select Command Invocation Off. Click to select a value other than the default.

Terminal Emulation:
Required. The Terminal Emulation control is used to select the terminal emulation the resource expects to use. Clicking an element in this control will display the Terminal Definition Dialog that enables you to customize attributes of the terminal window. Click to select a value other than the default.

Connectivity:
Required. This control is used to select the method Vantage will use to connect to the resource. Clicking an element in this control will display a dialog specific to that style of connectivity.
