NS9000 Definition Dialog Controls

The figure below is the NS9000 connectivity Definition dialog.

NOTE: In order to establish a connection on an HP3000 the NS9000 software must be installed on both the HP3000 and on the Vantage workstation and an entry must be made in the HP3000's configuration to allow a connection from the Vantage workstation. The configuration tool NMMGR is used to make this entry. Please consult your HP3000 system manager. The system manager will need to know the IP address of the Vantage workstation in order to make this entry.
Refer to Using Vantage Dialogs to learn about Vantage dialogs. Each control on the dialog is explained in the text that follows.
NS9000 Definition Dialog Controls
NS Nodename:
Required. The NS Nodename control is used to specify the node name of the resource. Each node, domain and organization name can be a maximum of 16 characters long. The first character of each parameter must be alphabetic and the fully qualified node name is limited to 50 characters. Click the control and type the node name of the resource to which Vantage is to connect.
Typeahead:
Required. This control allows enabling or disabling typeahead. Enabling type ahead provides keyboard input buffering. Note that some MPE applications do not run correctly with type ahead enabled. Click to select a value other than the default.
Typeahead ON Typeahead OFF(Default)
Read Input:
Required. This control allows automation of the logon to the managed resource. Selecting Read Input ON will enable creation of an input file which will contain logon on information and, optionally, MPE command execution. Click to select a value other than the default.
Read Input ON Read Input OFF(Default)
Input Filename
Optional. This control is required only if the Read Input ON is selected. Vt3k allows automating the logon to the managed resource. Entering a file name in the Input Filename control and pressing return will automatically start the Text Editor to allow specification of logon information. The first line in the input file must be a valid MPE logon statement and can include passwords, if desired.
WARNING: This file creates a significant security risk because it contains your login and password information. Include passwords in this file at your own risk.
The second and subsequent lines in the input file can contain MPE commands. Input control is returned after the last command in the file is executed. If it is desired that MPE commands be executed at logon, enter one MPE command per line. When finished editing the file, save it and exit the editor.
Click OK when all selections are complete. Click the Add button on the Resource Definition dialog to add the resource.
