Shutdown of the Vantage Workstation

If it is necessary to shutdown the Vantage workstation it is important that the workstation is properly prepared for the shutdown. Executing the following steps will ensure that the Vantage software is stopped and that the workstation is ready to be shutdown.
1. Start the Launch/Status Manager by clicking the Launcher icon on the front panel.
2. Click Stop All Cons on the Launch/Status Manager. The Monitor Indicator control will read "None Active" when all Vantage monitoring has been stopped.
3. Click Stop Broker on the Launch/Status Manager. The Broker Indicator control will read "Broker Inactive" when the broker has been stopped.
4. Quit the Launch/Status Manager by clicking the word File in the upper left corner of the dialog and selecting Quit from the menu.
5. Open a terminal window by clicking the terminal icon in the lower left corner of the front panel and type stop_vanrpc in the window. You will see vanrpc_serv stopped when the server has stopped.
6. Type diag1 in the window. There should be no Vantage processes running and the Lock Info section should show that the Broker_Lock, BrokerReady and all Monitor_Lock files are not found.
7. Check all rooms on the workstation and exit all other applications. The workstation's Console icon should be the only process left running.
8. Position the pointer on the background, press a button on the mouse, drag the pointer to the words Log out and release the button.
9. A Vantage confirmation dialog will be displayed. Click Yes to proceed with the logout. Any processes still running will be stopped automatically. Click No to stop the logout process.
10. Click OK on the Logout Confirmation window. If you have any doubts about whether you should continue you can choose Cancel to stop the log out process.
11. Click the Options button on the window manager's login screen then click Command Line Login on the menu.
12. Press Return as soon as you see the banner that contains the words "Suspending CDE. Press [Return] for a login prompt. Login. CDE will resume shortly after you logout."
13. You will see "GenericSysName[Release] (see /etc/issue) Console login:" Now type root, press Return and type the root password.
14. Type /etc/shutdown -h 0. If the system asks if you want to send your own message, type n and press return.
15. The system is shutdown and ready to be power cycled when you see the words Halted, you may now cycle power.
16. Turn power off to the SPU then remove power from all peripherals.
NOTE: When cycling power on Central Data/Digi hardware it is critical that power be removed at the outlet rather than at the back of the unit. Unpredictable results can occur if these units are not power cycled properly.
17. Power up peripherals then turn on power to the SPU
18. The system will now reboot and you will be returned to the window manager's login screen.
19. Login as vanmgr and resume Vantage operation.
