Resource lists can be created to enable starting specific resource consoles in specific workspaces on the Vantage workstation. Resources can be grouped by list. These lists can then be used to start or stop groups of resources. Format of the start-up files is resource name followed by a space and an optional workspace name. Files can be commented by placing a semicolon (;) in column one.
Lists must reside in the users/vantage/startup_files directory. A file called Defaults is provided and can be used to start or stop a default list of resources. Open a terminal window as vanmgr and use an editor of your choice to either edit the Defaults file or create your own start-up file.
The format of a start-up file is the resource name beginning in column one followed by a space and an optional workspace name. Enter one resource name per line. If no workspace name is entered or the workspace is not valid, the console will be started in the workspace highlighted in the Workspace List control of the Launch/Status Manager.

The Options menu allows selection of how resources are started. To display the Options menu click the word Options in the upper left corner of the Launch/Status Manager dialog.
Start/Stop All Consoles is the default. Start/Stop Default Consoles starts/stops consoles listed in the Defaults file. Start/Stop Consoles by List starts/stops consoles using a list of your choice.
The titles of the Stop All Consoles and Start All Consoles buttons are changed based on the selection made on the Options menu. Selecting Start/Stop Default Consoles will change the buttons to Start Default Consoles and Stop Default Consoles. When the buttons are clicked a dialog will be displayed asking you to confirm your intention then an attempt will be made to start or stop all consoles listed in the /opt/vantage/startup_files/Defaults file.
If Start/Stop Consoles by List is selected a File Selection dialog will be displayed to allow a choice of start-up files. The Stop All Consoles and Start All Consoles buttons are then changed to Stop Cons List and Start Cons List respectively. Clicking these buttons will display a confirmation dialog then an attempt will be made to start or stop consoles contained in the list chosen from the File Selection dialog.

The File Selection dialog allows selection of a start-up file. Click to select a start-up file, then click OK.
Confirmation dialogs include a button that will list the resource names contained in the start-up files. Click the List button to view the names in that list. Click OK to close the list and return to the confirmation dialog.

The Remote user files contain the names of resources to which remote users are allowed to connect. The Remote users files are created through the Admin menu on the Launch/Status Manager.

To display the menu position the pointer on the word Admin in the upper left corner of the dialog, click and hold the left button on the mouse, drag the pointer to the desired item and release the mouse button to choose the item.

The Title Bar of the window contains the name of the selected Vantage host. The Resources control contains the resources and groups configured on the selected host as well as a list of permissions. The Users control contains the remote user names configured on the host.
Permission is the highest level of access the user is allowed when connecting to a resource console: vanmgr is allowed the highest level including exclusive access and will allow other capabilities in future releases. Exclusive enables the user to obtain exclusive access to resource consoles blocking other shares from write access. Write gives the user write access to the resource but not exclusive. Read will allow the user read only access to resource consoles.
To see the contents of a Remote user's file click a user name in the Users control. The box between the Resources and Users control will show the number of Resources/Groups to which the user is allowed to connect. Resource/Group names to which the user may connect and the permission are highlighted. To scroll through resource/group names click the vertical up or down arrow or click and drag the scroll bar.
To grant access for a user to a specific resource, scroll through the Resources/Group control and click to select the resource--you will also be allowed to select a permission. The permission is the highest access the user is allowed. You can select only one permission for each group or resource name. Granting a user access to a group grants access to all resources which are members of that group.
To add or delete a resource/group name find the resource/group name in the Resources control, click the resource/group name. When finished modifying the file click the Save button and click OK on the confirmation dialog. Click Return to accept and return so the previous dialog.
