Improvements to Existing Features
Help system
The Vantage on-line help documentation is now made available via your web-browser rather than the CDE help system. Most people are now familiar with the browser interface, so it should be more universally applicable.
Commands sent to the Originating Resource
In previous versions, when an event was detected on one resource in a group of resources, there were 2 choices where a Command event response or Command with File response could be sent. The response could go to a specific resource, or the entire group of resources. It is now possible to specify that the response be sent back to only the resource that triggered the event. To do this select [Originating Resource] in the Resource/Group list when defining the Command or Command with File event. Refer to Command Definition or Command File Definition , for more details.
New API Exec event response option
There are now 2 ways for the program that is run by an API exec event response to get information from Vantage. In previous versions the program your script obtained 3 variables $1, $2, and $3. Now, if you choose, the program can get $4 as the log file name and $5 as the position in the log file where the event can be found. Refer to API Exec Definition for more details.
NED turned off by default
When there are many resources all sending characters to the NED window it becomes a performance bottleneck to display all of those characters. You can turn NED off for each resource from the Monitor Status Dialog for each resource, and, if your machine seems slow, we recommend that you do so. The new feature of Vantage is that the default, when Vantage is defining a resource, will now be to have NED be OFF, unless you specify that it should be ON in the 'Options' Menu. Refer to Resource Options Menu for more details.
