Improvements to Existing Features


Vantage Ported to Solaris
Vantage can now be run on Solaris Sparc or Intel platforms.
Exclusive Console Access
Users granted shared access to consoles could now select from a menu whether they want Read, Write or Exclusive access to the console. Refer to The Shared Console for more information.
Windowless Vantage
You can now select a Server Mode for Vantage. An X display is no longer required on the Vantage Host. Refer to Resource Options Menu for details.
User Selected Directories
Vantage can be installed in directories of the user's choice. Refer to Installing/Updating Vantage Software for more information.
Character Based Dialogs
Character based programs have been created that are the functional equivalents of the Event, Group and Resource dialogs as well as the Launch/Status Manager dialog. Refer to Character Based Dialogs for more information.
Catwalk 3.0 Control
Catwalk 3.0 hardware settings can be controlled through command files using new keyword meta-commands. Refer to Catwalk 3.0 Meta Commands for usage of the new commands.
Higher Baud Rates Supported
Vantage now supports baud rates up to 38.4.
Improvements to Existing Features
Event Definition Dialog Enhancements
To prevent data corruption only one instance of the Event Definition program can be running at any one time. DEFAULT_HOST and DEFAULT_DISPLAY are defaults in the Message event and Message with Reply event responses. More information is displayed in the Find event Results List. Refer to Configuring Events for more information.
Launch/Status Manager Enhancements
The Launch/Status Manager now has controls/indicators for Catwalk 3 functionality. Refer to The Launch/Status Manager for details. Remote users' file can be maintained through the Admin menu. Refer to Modifying Remote users Files for more information.
Resource Definition Dialog Enhancements
The Admin Menu allows initialization of Lantronix and Emulex terminal servers as well as password maintenance for the servers. Refer to Resource Admin Menu for more information. The Options menu is used to enable Console logging and set log size, to set the size of the remote access console buffer, to enable the blocking of escape codes, and to set the resource's Server Mode. Refer to Resource Options Menu for details.
Central Data connectivity Definition Enhancements
The Dialog now users to choose vsld or cu, enable Enq-Ack, enable or disable the tilde character and allows you to choose the initial state of Catwalk 3.0. Refer to Central Data Definition for more information.
Lantronix connectivity Definition Enhancements
The Lantronix Definition dialog allows you to choose the initial state of Catwalk 3.0. Lantronix P class terminal servers support Catwalk 3.0 functionality. Refer to Lantronix Definition for more information.
Changes to Enhance Usability
Distribution of events is faster. Changes have also been made which make starting resources faster. The Recover process is more reliable. Significant performance improvements can be realized by running Vantage in Windowless Server Mode.
No Longer Supported
A mixed environment of Vantage 3.0 and 3.01 is not recommended and is not supported. Automated login to CDE is not supported. HP-VUE is not supported on Version 3.01 and later. Call ASP Technologies Vantage Technical Support for information on support for HP-UX 11.0
