Event Definition Modular Licensing


Modular licensing lets you purchase only those Vantage features you need to manage your environment. Licensing is broken into five areas as described below.
Remote Access
You can license the number of resources that permit remote console access. If a resource is not configured for remote access the console data can only be viewed from the Consolidation Point display.
Console Logging
All characters displayed to a resource console can be logged. You can decide if this Console logging is needed.
Unlimited Events
You can choose this option if resources need unlimited event detection and event response functions. You can define as many events as required.
Pooled Events
If only a limited number of events are needed then you can license a pool of events that all resources can share.
Vantage-To-Vantage
If you need Vantage peer-to-peer control you can license the workstation accordingly.
Vantage Dialogs will have additional menus and controls if you're using Modular Licensing. These dialogs are displayed and explained in the following text. Refer to an underlined topic below to get more information.

Resource Definition Modular Licensing
The following dialogs and menus are specific to the Resource Definition Dialog only if you are using Modular Licensing.
The Resource Definition License Menu is displayed by clicking on the word License in the upper left corner of the dialog.

Selecting Configuration from the menu opens the License Configuration dialog. The controls of this dialog are explained in the text below.

Logging:
Click to select resources for which Console logging is desired. As resources are selected the count at the bottom of the Logging control indicates the number of licenses used and the number of remaining Logging licenses.
Remote Access:
Click to select resources for which remote console access is desired. As resources are selected the count at the bottom of the Remote Access control indicates the number of licenses used and the number of remaining Remote Access licenses.
Unlimited Events:
Click to select resources for which Unlimited Events is desired. Unlimited Events means that you can define as many events as you want for the resource as opposed to the shared event pool. As resources are selected the count at the bottom of the Unlimited Events control indicates the number of licenses used and the number of remaining Unlimited Events licenses.

Console Logging:
Click Licensed for Logging if Console logging is desired. You also have the option to begin Console logging at the start of the resource. The Number of Logs and Size of Log Files can be selected by clicking then using the sliding controls to set the number and size of log files.
Shared Console Buffer
Click Replay at Start of Share then use the sliding control to select the replay buffer size if replay of console buffer is desired.
Block Esc Codes
Default is on. Click the check box if blocking of esc codes is not desired.
Window created at start of Resource
Default is off. If a window is desired when the resource is initially started click this check box.
Licensed for Remote Access
Default is off. Click this check box if remote access of the resources console window is desired. The number of Remote Access licenses used and the number of licenses available will be displayed.
Licensed for Unlimited Events
Default is off. Click this check box if the resource needs unlimited Events. The number of Unlimited Events licenses used and the number of licenses available will be displayed.
Event Definition Modular Licensing
The Licensing Menu on the Event Definition dialog enables obtaining licensing information and selecting which resources are licensed for unlimited events.
The License Information Dialog opens whenever the Event Definition dialog starts. Displayed in the box is the current licensing information. To remove the box click Close.

The License menu shown below enables getting licensing information as well as configuring resources for Unlimited events.

The Unlimited Resource Selector dialog enables selecting resources for Unlimited events.

Event Definition Configuration Dialog
Click the resource name to enable the resource for unlimited events. The number in parentheses following the resource name is the number of events defined for that resource both individually and as a member of a Group of resources that may have events defined.
